Adding manuals straight to the directory, a short guide

First do a search to make sure the manual is not allready in the directory, if its not their browse to the category that is relavent to the manual, like if its a HP printer manual go to the computer and software category, then printers then HP Printers and click Add Resources. Fill in the form a short idea what each does is below.

Title: The title of the manual, ie if its a JVC PPD-6455 Service Manual type it in as JVC PPD-6455 Service Manual

URL: This is the trickiest bit and me and crommie can not figure out any easy way to do this. This is the only way click on Upload Manual next to the URL Box a new window will open, click browse and find the manual you want to add to the directory double click on it, and then click on the upload files button after a short while your manual will be added and a new page will appear. Right click on the filename and click copy shortcut and paste that into the Url box

Description:
Not really required but if you want to add a little bit more information its their

Members: Ignore

Language: Language of the manual

Name / Forum Username Self explaining, we are thinking of giving pepole who take the time to add a manual free access to the members area, so include your forum username if you wish access.

Can someone please take 5 minutes to test this, its no good asking crommie as he knows how to do it, just read the guide and try adding a manual straight into the directory under the right category.

And maybe post some feedback here  Wink

Thanks to the 5 users who have added manuals directly to the directory, but we need to know how hard/easy or just if it was to confusing to do so.

Tried following your instructions on how to upload a manual and fell over at the URL: bit about uploading the file. Clicked 'Upload File' and a new window (tab in my case as I use Firefox) opened but there is no 'Browse' button, just  'Upload', 'Up' & 'Login' buttons. 'Login' requests user name and password but entering forum values just re-prompts for values again. Clicking 'Upload' goes to blank page. Clicking the 'Up' button gives an 'Upload' button but clicking this goes back to start page. Shame as I would like to offer some of the broadcast equipment manuals I have aquired over the years.

Ye some how i broke the upload part, will be fixed soon or you can just upload them straight to the forums under the upload category and me and crommie will add them to the directory. Just click on additional options when you go to post a message and you can attach files upto 10MB.

We are thinking of helping those who help us by giving them members access if their now already members.

Should be working again now, i must have changed something in the template as thats where the problem was. If you you or anyone just wants to upload manuals me and crommie can add them to the directory.

If you upload straight to the folder you can if your connection is fast enough upload 10 files at a time. http://bfile.no-ip.info/uploads/~upload

Tested and working ok now thanks. Uploaded a few files but don't have many domestic equipment schematic manuals as I mostly work with broadcast equipment. Will try and find some more useful documents though.
